Safety in the Secret Place . . . Part 2

(If we expect to experience Safety in the Secret Place . . .)

The lesson here is that out of the four birds (Safety in the Secret Place . . . Part 1), one discovered the Secret Place!

For a moment, we need to put ourselves in the place of he finches. It seems all is well – we take time out to enjoy life a bit. Then here comes Satan . . . again . . . waving, flapping, and teasing us mercilessly at times. Today it may be sickness, tomorrow it may be lack, and another day it could be strife and/or discord. Whatever his ploy, it all spells the same – snare, trap, scheme of the devil. (v3) Satan uses anything necessary to get us off-guard. Anything that will get us focused on anythingbut Yahweh!

If we expect to experience Safety in the Secret Place:

I.         We Must . . . Expect to Dwell!
dwell: remain, sit down in quiet, stake a claim in a position

Psalm 27:5
For in the time of trouble
He shall hide me in His pavilion (shelter)
In the secret place of His tabernacle
He shall hide me;
He shall set me high upon a rock.

Psalm 31: 20
You shall hide them in the secret place of Your presence
Form the plots of man;
You shall keep them secretly in a pavilion (shelter)
From the strife of tongues

Psalm 119: 114
You are my hiding place and my shield;
I hope in your Word!

So it bears repeating – we need to dwell . . . in the secret place of the Most High! The secret place: under His covering, under His protection, He is our hiding place.

How do we get to the Secret Place? We get still and we spend time in Yahweh’s presence: prayer time, quiet time, meditation on His word, time of listening to Him and for His direction, times of worship and praise! Spend time with the Most High – He is all-sufficient and He can handle it all! See what Yahweh has to say about the situation – see how He handles it!

II.        We Must . . . Expect to Abide!
abide: stay permanently, be immovable, endure, to be fixed

Abide under the shadow of the Almighty!

shadow: defense or shade
Almighty: El Shaddai – the all-sufficient God, Mighty conqueror!

We are to in Yahweh’s presence (the shade / defense). We are to remain fixed (immovable / consistently stay) in Yahweh’s presence: prayer time, quiet time, meditation on His word, time of listening to Him and for His direction, times of worship and praise! Again, we are to consistently spend time with the Most High – He is all-sufficient and He can handle it all! See what Yahweh has to say about the situation – see how He handles it! He is capable of being all that His people will ever need!

While abiding we are in protective mode, under the hedge of protection and covering of Yahweh. When we stay put and keep our eyes on Him, we can begin to see how He is working on our behalf! Sure unsettling things may be going on around us, but they are not destroying us! We are covered!

III.       We Must . . . Expect Yahweh to be our Refuge!
refuge: shelter, protection, place of trust, a hope

Psalm 46: 1
God is our refuge and strength
A very present help in trouble

Psalm 63: 3
For you have been a shelter to me,
A strong tower from the enemy.

Just as Yahweh is seen in scripture as a refuge from the storm and a shade from the heat – we need take comfort in Him sheltering us from all the elements that we encounter in life. He is our hedge of protection in the midst of the storms of life.

Yahweh wants us to stand under the covering of His word! We take refuge in His word and when Satan comes to attack – we need to rest in that comfort and remember what Yahweh has said!

Dwell, abide and take refuge in what He says, AND . . .

IV.       We Must . . . Expect to Trust!

Psalm 91:2
I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress;
My God, in Him I will trust.”

Proverbs 3: 5
Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
And lean not on your own understanding.

God is Elohim: the sublime God! He is above all and He can handle all!

My God in Him I will trust! Trust Yahweh, trust His presence, trust His word and trust His will . . . for there you will find the secret place! In the secret place we can stay rooted because that is where we find protection, strength, and peace. But most of all we find our answer – that the secret place is all-sufficient to immobilize any and every trap of Satan!

Because Yahweh is all-sufficient, He is capable of being all that His people need – in any given situation! So the next time Satan waves around and gives the appearance that he is going to harm you, don’t run to the right! Don’t run to the left! Run to the secret place and dwell (sit down in quiet), abide (become immovable / fixed in the presence of the Father), expect Yahweh to be your refuge (hope, be confident), and trust (believe, expect and know for certain)! Know for certain that Yahweh is all you need in any situation!

After we have done all, we must trust! He protects us! He is always there for us to see us through – He will never leave us nor forsake us! He provides divine protection in which we can stay rooted. We can stay and remain in His protection. We can find shade and strength. Therefore, we can be confident, bold and sure . . . just trust in Him!

Yahweh will deliver! (Psalm 91)

 Be blessed,
Lovely
